Are you implementing Leading Practices?

Some recent discussions at an IFMA networking event really hit home.

In my latest article, which appears in Canadian Facility Management & Design, I talk about implementing leading practices used by the largest and most successful professional FM companies. I never realized how much this would resonate with senior facility professionals. The reality is that in many organizations, Facility staff are often isolated, without the support mechanism and the ability to learn about leading practices.

As a result, they often work hard to get results with the systems, training and structure they have. They don't know about better ways to do it or how to sell changes that will improve results to their senior management .

Of course, we've all been there, and it's hard to get above the day-to-day work to make changes. Making the effort and tapping into external expertise, however, not only improves your current situation, it makes you more marketable throughout your career.
